Rocky Knoll Farm
Lavance English Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
The deep purple flower clusters of Lavance lavender are one of the darkest of all lavender cultivars, and the blooms keep their dark hue throughout the summer and into fall, depending on growing conditions. Attractive grey-green foliage makes for an ideal color combination, and it really helps accentuate the striking blooms. The flowers are very fragrant, and this plant is great for culinary purposes, arrangements and potpourris. Butterflies and bees love this plant!
An easy to grow perennial, Lavance is drought tolerant once established, and both deer and rabbit resistant. Also known to be salt tolerant, which makes it a good choice for coastal gardens. It does best in full sun and can reach about 18" tall and 24" wide. Hardy to -20°F when protected from windchill.
